Latest four published revisions to the List of Quarantine Diseases for the Animals Imported to the People's Republic of China（hereinafter referred to as“the List”）were analyzed based on its name，classification and publishment form as well as the classification，type and quantity of animal diseases specified therein，each of which was compared with its previous version. Specifically，the types of animal diseases were increased from 97 in the 1992 version to 206 in 2013 version with a view to further satisfying the needs for disease prevention and control in new era；for 2020 version，the types of diseases were increased from 206 in 2013 version to 211 based on risk assessment，with 14 additional diseases and 9 deleted ones，the classifications and names of some diseases were also amended. Current status of animal diseases both at home and abroad was closely reflected in 2020 version that was more scientific，comprehensive and reasonable，and would play a key role in safeguarding bio-security of China.
