On August 18，2015，an outbreak of suspected PPR was reported in Jiangxi province. In order to recognize the main causes and analyze the risk of disease transmission from epidemic focus，an emergency epidemiological investigation was carried out. The establishment of case definition and collection of the samples for detection were done first. Then by approaches of discussion，field survey and questionnaire，the investigation was launched. Based on results of laboratory detection，the cause of the outbreak was confirmed as PPR，of which the attack rate was 100%（148/148）and the mortality was 85%（126/148）. According to the investigation，the epidemic were mainly due to the purchase and flock mixing of the diseased goats，as well as their trans-provincial transportation. And the flow of people and vehicles resulted in the transmission of the disease in some degree. In terms of Technical Specifications for the prevention and treatment of PPR，corresponding treatments were taken for goat farms. Meanwhile，the farms and households in the whole county were investigated，no found of new outbreaks. Some improvement suggestions were indicated，including standardizing the inspection and quarantine at the place of origin，strictly supervising the allocation and transportation of the live livestock，cracking down the illegal allocation and transportation and monitoring the local farms continuously.
