At present，the market entities' appeal for further optimizing the policy supply by veterinary competent authorities is becoming increasingly strong. Given this situation，some recommendations were put forward in this article to further transform the job functions and adjust work focus，which can be summarized by the following 6 aspects：optimizing the prevention and control policies of animal diseases，accelerating the establishment of a supervision mechanism of rewarding the superior and punishing the inferior，improving the bio-safety disposal mechanism for diseased and dead livestock and poultry，establishing the supervision mechanism for pig slaughtering with quality management control as its core，developing medication policy of veterinary drugs on a category by category basis，and stepping up the pace of policy-based insurance innovation. In this way，the effectiveness of policy supply of the veterinary sector will be continuously enhanced. Such efforts will better stimulate the vitality of the market entities and push forward the supply-side structural reform of the veterinary sector.
