[Objective]Understanding the current situation of the grass-roots veterinarians'pension so as to provide support for improving the veterinary management policy and promoting the sustainable development of veterinary undertaking .[Methods]Through on-site visits,inquiries,and access to relevant documents,we have launched an investigation into way of resigned,age status,source of life and petition situation of 2137 grass-roots veterinarians in Yongzhou. [Results] It has been found that numbers of grassroots veterinarians were dismissed along with veterinary system reform whereas the remaining group facing a growing aging problem,most resigned?grass-roots?veterinarian relyed on farming or were supported by their children,there were many petitioners among them. [Conclusion] Some suggestions were put forward on policy-making and implementation,institutional reform,distribution of allowances,strict access standard,professional quality improvement etc.
