In April 2020，a sheep farmer was confirmed to be Brucella serological positive in Jishou City of Hunan Province. In order to find out the source of infection，an epidemiological investigation into animals was carried out for the infected household and epidemiologically related farms/households by means of field inquiry，site inspection and laboratory test. It was investigated that some sheep were introduced from other provinces by the infected household and a related farm/household and then to other related three farms/households；serological detection of Brucella was carried out for all of 226 sheep in 5 farms/households，and 4 farms/households were positive，with an individual positive rate of 11.5%（26/226）. It was more likely that，for the route of introduction，the pathogens were introduced from other provinces/cities by the infected household，then the disease was spread through grazing in public areas or introducing sheep by other farms/households. It was suggested that standardized introduction，isolated feeding and personal protection should be safeguarded by households/farms，while surveillance，inspection and quarantine at the place of origin as well as supervision over movement should be strengthened by relevant authorities.
