In November 2020，a cattle farm with positive antibodies against brucellosis was found by Fenghuang Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture Center（FAGAC）in Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture of Hunan Province during its routine surveillance. Immediately，an epidemiological investigation on brucellosis was carried out for the farm by means of interview，archival inquiry and laboratory testing by Xiangxi Animal Husbandry and Aquaculture Center together with relevant professional technicians from FAGAC to analyze any possible sources and evaluate any risk of disease spreading. It was preliminarily determined that，based on the results of field investigation and laboratory testing，the outbreak might be caused by non-standard introduction，and spread to a certain extent because the operators knew little about the prevention and control of brucellosis and failed to take any measures in time. Then the outbreak was effectively controlled by taking strict response measures and continuous epidemiological surveillance. Therefore，it was suggested that healthy development of animal husbandry and public health safety should be safeguarded by strengthening the supervision for introduction and quarantine of animals，intensifying supervision for law enforcement and routine surveillance，and organizing publicity and training on prevention and control of brucellosis.
