In recent years，with ongoing researches on pathogenic microorganisms and various infectious diseases，the number of biological laboratories was increasing in China，so the improvement of laboratory biological security system was of great significance to protect the safety of researchers and society. In the paper，the differences and relations between laboratory biosecurity and laboratory biosafety were identified，followed by some problems，such as imperfect laws and regulations related to biosecurity，poor biosecurity capacity in laboratories，etc.，then，with reference to the regulations related to biosecurity specified by WHO and some developed countries as well as their status of implementation，relevant suggestions were proposed，including improving relevant laws and regulations，strengthening capacity building of laboratories to implement the system，increasing biosecurity training，improving the awareness for risk assessment and others appropriate for the status of biosecurity in China，with a view to providing a reference for improving the biosecurity system and accelerating the development of biosecurity in China.
