In order to achieve the strategic goal of building“ecological agriculture，brand agriculture and intelligent agriculture”required by Fujian Party Committee and Government，a“livestock and poultry production monitoring system”was planned and built by Fujian Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs based on the phase I project of“agricultural cloud 131”，which was divided into two subsystems for monitoring pig price and livestock and poultry products，respectively. In the paper，the construction contents of the two subsystems were introduced，their business processes such as data filling，data review，report management and data submission were described，and its structure of application and technology was demonstrated. Then，based on its shortages including limited monitoring scope，lack of the modules for intelligent data collection and verification，targeted recommendations were put forward，including expanding monitoring scope，adding the functions of intelligent data collection and verification，and constructing the models for analysis on supply and demand of livestock and poultry production as well as early warning，with a view to supporting future application of data collection and verification.
