Veterinary epidemiology，as a key discipline to study the etiology，distribution and control of animal diseases，has been playing a very important role in the industry. Veterinary epidemiology started late in China，but has been greatly improved with the help of various training networks，which has been recognized by the industry. In the paper，based on its status and situation both at home and abroad，such gaps as incoherent curriculum without hierarchy，and lack of practicality in teaching methods and practical teaching were found in current teaching of veterinary epidemiology in China at present，some recommendations were thereby proposed，including optimizing the curriculum setting and teaching form，improving professional ability and increasing trainings for teachers，with a view to providing a reference for the veterinary epidemiology education and discipline development in China.
