Lumpy skin disease（LSD）was an emerging infectious disease introduced into China in August 2019，bringing a significant economic impact on the cattle industry. Vaccination was a key measure to control LSD spreading，but only commercial live attenuated vaccines（LAV）including homologous live attenuated vaccines and heterologous live attenuated capripox vaccines could be used to prevent LSD，while inactivated vaccines and recombinant subunit vaccines for multiple viruses were under research；whether homologous vaccines or heterologous ones had good clinical protective effects，but some of them failed to produce sufficient immunity；and the contamination of exogenous viruses and the production of vaccine-like recombinant strains during the process of vaccine production could be avoided by good vaccine quality control. In China，for the purpose of eliminating LSD soonest，relevant researches on prevention and control technologies including vaccines，epidemiology，monitoring and diagnosis should be conducted with reference to international advanced experience. In the paper，the types，side effects，immune effects and quality control of vaccines commonly used both at home and abroad were introduced，which technically supported the control and eradication of the disease.
