摘要:A new fatal disease, hypoglycemia spiking mortality syndrome(HSMS), affected primarily the broiler chickens has been found to be prevalent in north China since last June. The broiler chickens of 10 to 18 days-old are most sensitive, and the clinical manifestations are head tremors , movement disorder ,recumbancy , loss of sight and death. An epidemiological investigation was carried out in the provinces of Heilongjiang , Jilin, Liaoning, Innermongolia, Tianjing, Hebei and Shandong. It was found that HSMS exists extensively in these regions .The results from 259 broiler farms showed that the disease are not occurring in the grandparental breeding farms, and we assumed the disease originated from the contaminated parental breeding farms . The mean morbidity was 17.9% , the blood glucose concentration of the affected chickens decreased significantly. The viral particles were observed in the intestine content samples from the infected chickens in two infected farms. The viral particles appear multi-shaped with diameter of about 80 to 100 nm, enveloped with stick -like spikes about 10 to20nm. The morphology of the viral particles seem like coronavirus.
